Having cherry-picked six of the finest fashion designers going, what better task to set them than one that offers them a blank canvas. As the latest installment in Topman’s series challenging designers to reappraise Men's wardrobe staples, it’s now the turn of the classic white t-shirt to be taken back to the drawing board by some of fashion’s most creative minds.
Whether James Dean in “Rebel Without A Cause” or countless frontmen to the best bands, the plain white tee has been a default choice for effortless cool. Alongside cult New York designer Richard Chai and modern sportswear don Christopher Shannon, the infamous Henry Holland has provided Topman with one of six unique takes on the humble tee.
Having provided the heavily pregnant M.I.A. with the notorious polka dot dress for her performance alongside Jay-Z and Lil Wayne at the recent Grammys, Holland knows a thing or two about bending convention with the subtlest twist. Here he twins a sailor boy aesthetic with a bold emblazoned House of Holland “H” that calls to mind the audacious yet simple style of hip-hop’s Dizzee Rascal.
These limited edition tees are available from June 4 from Topman’s flagship stores in London and New York, as well as the Topman website. So Topman CTRL have put some aside to giveaway to a few lucky people.
All you need to do is head on over to the Myspace site here, and you can enter the competition to get your hands on one of these special tee's!
