Up and coming live act Clock Opera are busy getting ready to perform at CTRL Live at 60 Million Postcards in Bournmouth this Thursday but took time out to give us this exclusive interview...
Did you know that Filthy dukes were fans of your sound?
Olly has been to a few of our gigs like the one we did with Marina & The Diamonds in November. It's great to have them as fans and we're looking forward to the show.
Have you played in Bournemouth before?
No! In fact, we've only ever played out of London once before - at a pub in Reading so it's great to be getting away from our home town.
So 2010, you feeling optimistic about the new year?
Yeah, what happened at the end of last year was a big surprise. We're building, we've only had one single out but we've done a few remixes.
In the spirit of CTRL who would be your line up if you could choose three acts to perform?
At the moment I'm really into Django Django. We played with them at our first gig and we've just done a remix for them. Their music is interesting, unexpected and they're great live.
There's a band called Magic & Fur they're from the UK and had a single out last year called 'Christne' which I really liked.
Another artis is a guy called Magnets - It's old analogue electro, really hypnotic.
Ok, so if you had to come up with a pop definition for Clock Opera's sound what would you say?
Up until recently 'Chop-Pop' we'd chop bits into a pile then make a song out of it but that's an easy way to describe it, no one wants to be pigeon-holed!
It's OK if it's your own pigeon hole!
Pigeon holes are quite small - we'd prefer and eagle hole or an ostrich hole! Hahaha
