Created by UK design studio Barber Osgerby the gold aluminium alloy torch is perforated with 8,000 holes, each representing one of the torchbearers. The creative team behind the London Olympic torch won the prestigious Design of the Year award 2012 for their efforts. The Olympic torch, along with the other shortlisted designs, is on show at the Design Museum in London until 4th July.
