General Store Covent Garden (Seven Dials) Launch Party

Last night saw the official launch for the second installment of Topman General Store. With the original located in Shoreditch the new addition lies in the heart of Covent Garden (Seven Dials). The minimalistic concept store contains an edited selection of key Topman pieces, alongside carefully selected brands spread across two floors. The great night saw performances from Big Deal and Fiction (DJ) with drinks provided by Sipsmith Gin and Asahi.

Today we're starting a new feature on the blog called Get to Know. We've put together some questions that we think you'd like to know about our staff, that work in store and head office. First up is Terry, Store Manager of our brand new General Store, Covent Garden (Seven Dials). 

Name? Job Title?

Terry Donovan, Store Manager of General Store Covent Garden (Seven Dials).

When and how did you get your job?

About 1 month ago, Job Centre..! Sorry, actually the internet.

What's the best part of your job?

The team, they are a group of individuals who bring their own style of fashion, music and lifestyle. We have a great time together as a team - work hard play hard!

What's your typical day consist of?

Everything from serving customers to maintaining product standards, I get stuck in with the team. I wouldn't expect them to do anything that I wouldn't.

How would you describe your own style?

Street sartorial work wear, clean but rough.

What are your top three picks of product you currently have in store?

Pendleton check bag, white pocket square, brown Swear boots oh and the Lou Dalton denim jacket, sorry that's four!

Where's your favourite place to eat in Covent Garden?

I'd have to say Rock & Sole Plaice. Traditional fish and chip shop, I am northern after all!

And finally, if you didn't do this job, what else would you like to be doing?

I am also putting together a festival called Yard Life and DJ at various spots around London.

Facebook to Buy Instagram for $1 Billion

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has let it slip that the social media juggernaut has plans to purchase Instagram for a whopping $1 billion USD. Having recently expanded to the Android market, Zuckerberg confirmed the news on his personal blog, adding that the deal won’t affect Instagram’s integration with competing social networks.

Zuckerberg:

'We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.'

World's First Fully Shoppable Music Video

In its latest attempt to separate a unique retail experience from its competitors, SSENSE developed the world’s first interactive shoppable music video. The Canadian retailer uses an interactive hotspot technology from wireWAX in which the viewer is prompted with a “Shop This Look” link. If selected, the video will pause, and a box will appear with the artist’s outfit laid out in its entirety, presenting each item available for purchase through the brand’s webstore.
