For a somewhat decadent birthday celebration I headed down to the two year stint pop up restaurant Shrimpy's.
Located in the Filling Station just five mins behind King's Cross Station, Shrimpy's is the new food lovechild from the guys behind East London dining staple Bistrotheque.
The decor, menu and overall atmosphere is a mixture of southern American cooking and LA culture. Everything from the amazing pineapple shaped lamps and tumblers to the beautiful salt and pepper mills adds a certain something more to the entire dining experience. And that's before I get to the food!!
For starter we ate veal heart in a rich garlic and tomato sauce and calamari with black olive tapenade and for main I could not resist the hype that surrounded the soft shell crab burger. Served with avocado and chilli in a brioche bun the taste was incredible.
The entire meal was washed down with copious amounts of American beers and strangely named cocktails (the best being the purple rinse) and all finished off with pistachio and chocolate brownie sundaes!
Everything that the Bistrotheque crew put their names to is always amazing and Shrimpy's is no exception....
